Tottenham are closing on a deal for Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri.

The Daily Mail says Spurs have made initial enquiries for Seri.

The 25-year-old Ivory Coast international was one of the stand-out players in France last season and has been the subject of interest from Roma, Arsenal, Barcelona and Beijing Guoan.

Roma had a £20 million bid rejected last week with Nice pointing to his £35m release clause and further talks are planned with the Italian club next week.

Seri played a major role in Nice's run to Europa League qualification last season.
