Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Moutinho admits he turned down a move to Everton.

"It's true I was interested in going to Everton, but I didn't accept the offer," Moutinho is quoted in The Daily Telegraph.

He added: "Who knows what might happen next season in terms of playing in England?"

Yet Moutinho insisted he is fully committed to Sporting.

"I will give everything to Sporting, staying was good for me and the club," added Moutinho - who is Sporting's captain.

"We have an excellent team, we are strong mature and want to continue to progress."
