Sporting Lisbon defender Ogushi Onyewu is set to have knee surgery which will sideline him for up to eight weeks.

Sporting Lisbon defender Ogushi Onyewu is set to have knee surgery which will sideline him for up to eight weeks.

The 29-year old USA international sustained the injury in Sunday’s league clash with Pacos Ferreira with scans showing a torn ligament and meniscus in his right knee.

Unfortunately for all parties involved, the former Standard Liege and AC Milan man will now have an operation and will be forced out for around two months.
