Sporting Gijon have ruled out the possible departure of Nacho Novo this January.

The 32-year old striker has been linked with a return to Rangers but the manager of the Spanish club, Manuel Preciado, insists nothing of the sort will occur.

"Novo is not leaving in this transfer window," he told the Daily Record.

"The players brought to the club five months ago will be staying. I have faith in them.

"I believe in their ability and there won't be any players quitting this month.

"They are under contract and they will be here at Sporting until at least the end of the season."
