Sporting CP are closing on a deal for Leicester City striker Islam Slimani.

The Leicester Mercury says Sporting are said to be interested in taking back the 29-year-old who spent the back end of last season on loan at Newcastle.

The Foxes would prefer to sell their record signing but Sporting would be unable to pay anywhere near to the £30million they received from Leicester back in 2016.

The club is suffering financially after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

And Jornal de Notícias report that a deal is 'practically set' between the two clubs.
