Luciano Spalletti says resigning from his Roma post was the right thing to do.
"I think my resignation was the right thing to do. It was my own initiative, that way I took my share of the responsibility," he told Sky Sport Italia.
"The last two results were certainly decisive, but in any case at the start of the season I had already met with President [Rosella] Sensi to clarify some matters and I'd realised I would have to take more responsibility on many fronts.
"I leave behind many memories and if I have to pinpoint specific games, then the ones against Chelsea and Real Madrid stick in my mind.
"Another thing I'll hold in my heart is the club anthem sung by the entire stadium, the people who feel so close to this side. I will always sing it too. I'll continue to follow Roma's progress under a great Coach like Ranieri."
