Souttar: I haven't joined Leicester to play as striker

Harry Souttar hopes to settle in at Leicester City as centre-half.

City boss Brendan Rodgers said Souttar could be an option up front, and that they had tried the 6ft 6in defender there in training.

However, Souttar has said that his stint up front at Seagrave was just a light-hearted moment to break up the day.

He explained: “We had a bit of fun in training one day and we changed positions, so I went up front for a little bit. It's one of those things.

“If you're chasing a game, there's always a different plan. I just think it came off the back of the game at the weekend when we had a few corners and I just stayed up there for about 30 seconds."

Souttar also said: “It's been a bit of a whirlwind to be fair, the first six or seven weeks," he said of his time since arriving from Stoke City on deadline day. “It's a dream come true to get there. It's where every person wants to be playing football, in a top league.

“It started really well with a couple of wins and then we've had some poor results. But if you look at the table, it's so tight from 12th to bottom.

“Our fixtures have been really tough, but that's what you want. You know you're going to be playing really good teams. Coming off the back of this break, we've got four games against teams around us that are going to be massive in terms of where we finish at the end of the season."
