England U21 fired a record-breaking nine goals past San Marino in their Euro qualifier last night.
Gareth Southgate hailed England's professionalism and ruthlessness as the Under 21s ended 2013 with a record-breaking 9-0 demolition of San Marino.
The Young Lions amassed the biggest winning margin by this age group, eclipsing the 8-1 drubbing of Finland in 1977, thanks to a performance that left Southgate purring.
"Everyone will say the opposition were poor but nobody else has scored that many against them," enthused Southgate, whose side are three points clear of Moldova at the top of Group 1 in qualifying for Euro 2015. "I was particularly pleased with the hunger and the attitude."
