Southampton striker Shane Long was on target as the Republic of Ireland defeated World Champions Germany 1-0 to secure at least a play-off place in Euro2016 qualification.
Long came off the bench to score the winner n the 70th minute much to the delight of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill.
O'Neill told Sky Sports: "Shane has come on against Poland (in March) and proved his worth (with a late equaliser), and I think at this minute the role suits him.
"When I get into the dressing room, I'll say 'well done' to him because he's won the game for us."
