Southampton are in contact with Sporting Lisbon for Marcos Rojo.
The Daily Express says Saints boss Ronald Koeman wants Rojo to be his third signing of a very turbulent summer, and is willing to part with £12m to secure the deal.
The 24-year-old's versatility is likely to be a significant factor for the Dutchman.
His ability to operate as both a left-back and centre-half would adequately replace Manchester United convert Luke Shaw, and act as cover for the Liverpool bound Dejan Lovren.
