Southampton's Koeman sets sights on Europe

Ronald Koeman says he is targeting European qualification with his Southampton side this season.

The Dutchman has the Saints sitting pretty in second place on the Premier League table after 10 matches and next on the agenda is a berth in either the Champions League or Europa League for 2015/16.

"We would like to continue in the good direction, like the club is heading in the past three-four years," said Koeman whose side are four points behind league leaders Chelsea.

"Of course the next step is playing in Europe. We know that it's a dream for the club, it's a dream for the fans and we have to do it.

"I have confidence that we can reach that. Then we have to keep our ambition and spirit in the team and that's the most important thing we have to bring on a daily basis."

Southampton are preparing for Saturday's home clash with 18th-placed Leicester City following last weekend's 1-0 win at Hull City.
