Southampton are ready to outbid Hertha Berlin for Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie.

The USA international is ready to leave Schalke this summer.

And while Hertha had appeared favourites to land McKennie, BILD says Saints have stepped in with a superior offer.

Hertha have bid €20m for McKennie, while Saints are offering €22m. For their part, S04 want €25m to sell the player.

Saints are regarded as favourites for McKennie after a recent admission of wanting to test himself in the Premier League.
