Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie has defended Memphis Depay's form at Manchester United.

A free-scoring, title-winning winger at PSV, Depay has struggled - and been written off by fans - at Old Trafford.

But Clasie told the Mirror: “He has to settle as well in this country, but give him more time, he will show his quality.

“My coach has also told me that most players who come from Holland need time. He has said to me 'I think you need maybe a year'.

“I think that too. Because I see the progress. Now I feel much better and hopefully I can be more important for the team and for the club than this year."
