Southampton loanees to remain overseas

Southampton are allowing their loan players to remain at the respective clubs where they are on loan for the rest of the season.

Guido Carrillo, Mario Lemina, Wesley Hoedt, Callum Slattery and Josh Sims are currently with teams outside the United Kingdom.

The Daily Echo says the Saints have contacted all these players to let them know they can stay abroad.

It is unclear when the respective leagues in which they play will resume after the COVID-19 outbreak.

But Southampton know there is little sense in the players flying back if they are settled in different places.

An ultimate decision can be made when UEFA and FIFA issue guidelines about season resumption, next season and how player contracts would be resolved.

Many loan and permanent deals end on June 30th, and it seems very likely that current seasons would not be complete by then.
