Southampton legend Matthew Le Tissier hopes Luke Shaw stays at St Mary's.

Le Tissier has admitted that 17-year-old left back Luke Shaw "could go a long way" in the game - but hopes the increased publicity surrounding him won't see him move to a wealthier top flight club.

"He's come in at a time when results have improved and that will do wonders for his confidence," Le Tissier told the Daily Echo. "He looks a very good prospect for many years to come, the boy looks like he could go a long way.

"He won't be as fit as the lads who are 24 and 25 but it doesn't take too long to catch up.

"His fitness is getting better after playing the full 90 minutes in the last couple of games."
