Southampton fullback Ryan Bertrand is keen to hear from Manchester City in January.

The Daily Mail says the 28-year-old would be receptive to a move to the Etihad Stadium should an offer materialise.

Saints, however, would rebuff any offer for the 17-cap England international unless the north-west club tabled a ludicrous bid.

But City have shown they are willing to bankroll lofty bids for defenders in recent seasons — Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi each cost over £30m while John Stones was prised away from Everton for £47.5m.
