Southampton's board are keen to open new contract talks with manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Mail on Sunday says insiders said the Saints hierarchy are confident that, despite uncertainly over Pochettino's future, he could still be persuaded to agree an extension to his deal, which expires in 18 months.
Speculation that Nicola Cortese's dramatic resignation as chairman last week has compromised not only Pochettino's position but also that of several of big players such as Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Jay Rodriguez and Dani Osvaldo is 'overblown', according to reliable club sources.
