Former Molde defender Forren chose Southampton ahead of the Reds when deciding to leave Norway in January.
Forren volleyed past Peter Gulacsi on the half-hour mark.
However, with just over 10 minutes remaining, Krisztian Adorjan ghosted into the penalty area and nodded home a pinpoint Jonjo Shelvey cross to seal a point for the Reds.
