Southampton defender Bednarek: I talked too much

Southampton defender Jan Bednarek has opened up about the past year of his career.

The defender moved on to Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, claiming he had signed for a bigger club.

However, he struggled for game time at Villa Park, and the Polish international is now back at Southampton battling relegation.

Speaking with the Daily Echo, Bednarek stated: “We are not perfect, we are not perfect people. Maybe I said too much.

“But the most important thing is I always put everything I have out on the pitch. This is all I can say. I'm really happy to be here, I'm really happy to be with this team.

“This club gave me a lot and I'm going to do everything I can to keep this club in the Premier League. That's the most important thing.

“Life gives us scenarios we don't expect. I needed the change, but then I decided it was the right thing for me to return to Southampton and help the team.

“I was convinced that I can do it and I'm just doing everything I can to help the team, to help keep clean sheets, to win games, and to stay in the Premier League."
