Claude Puel says he knows nothing of a potential takeover of Southampton.

Reports suggest that a Chinese consortium are in negotiations with the Saints but Frenchman Puel insists he is unaware of any ongoing talks regarding the club's potential changing of hands.

"I have no idea about the situation," said Puel ahead of Thursday night's Europa League clash with Inter Milan.

"I give all my confidence to the president and the people at the club to do things in a good way."

Midfielder James Ward-Prowse added: "It's the first I have heard of it, but it is a great club, a worldwide club, so of course there is going to be world interest."
