Southgate keen for England to engage with supporters again

In their Nations League clash on September 5 England face their Euro 2016 conquerors Iceland in Reykjavik.

The Three Lions have not played since November 2019, when a 4-0 win in Kosovo concluded their Euro 2020 qualification campaign.

However, prior to that there were signs that Gareth Southgate's side had reconnected with England supporters, particularly after reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2018.

"In the four years since we last played Iceland, that relationship and engagement with our supporters has improved enormously and we want to keep improving that," Southgate said.

"We want to keep delivering on the field, so we can't wait to get back wearing the shirt and representing our country, and we're looking forward to these matches."
