South Korea files complaint against AFC chief bin Hammam

The South Korea national team has sent a complaint to FIFA against Asian Football Confederations boss Mohamed bin Hammam. Sent via the Korea Football Association (KFA), the complaint is against bin Hammam for comments he made in an interview in February against the South Korean team.

"Our association has sent an official to Zurich to file a complaint with Fifa's disciplinary and ethics committees," Korea Football Association (KFA) spokesman You Young-Cheul told AFP.

bin Hammam has been accused of stating that Korea chief Cho Jung-Yeon was backing the candidacy of Bahrain's Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa who will run for a seat on FIFA's executive committee.

"Bin Hammam was not sincere in his explanation of his remarks, which are not appropriate as AFC chief and hurt the unity of Asian member countries," a KFA spokesperson said.

"His claim that South Korea has financially backed Shaikh Salman is also groundless."
