Souness: Kane and Tottenham have let down managers, fans and their families

Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness has delivered an extraordinary rant regarding Tottenham star Harry Kane.

Souness, a former Liverpool player and manager, was speaking about Kane's comments regarding his club Spurs having lost some of their values since Mauricio Pochettino left as manager a few years ago.

The pundit, however, was thoroughly unimpressed as he felt Kane was making excuses for himself and his teammates.

He told Sky Sports: “I will be polite as I possibly can. When you are a professional football player passion and desire should be with you all the time. It is not a light switch you can switch on and off.

“Harry came across there if he had been media trained, knew the questions that were coming and how he would answer them. He probably consulted someone in PR at Spurs. I know I am from a different generation but I think that's so weak.

“I played with players where the most important thing in their lives come Friday was what would happen on Saturday. Everything I do is about the next 90 minutes. These players today are media trained.

“Passion and desire for 45 minutes against Man United, what about going back to the first game of the season in August that's where it starts.

“If you are a good player and team you might win something. You don't consistently let down supporters like this Spurs group have.

“They have let down managers, supporters and ultimately themselves and their families. I feel embarrassed for him hearing that comment and I am a big fan of his."
