Sony to sponsor Australia's National Premier Leagues

Sony's Playstation 4 brand has been confirmed as the first naming rights partner of Australia's National Premier Leagues, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. The deal, struck between Sony Australia and the Football Federation of Australia, will run until the end of 2017.

The National Premier Leagues is the second tier of Australia soccer, operating below the A-League. In total it features 92 clubs from eight divisions.

The second season is currently underway, with the FFA also announcing the winner will gain a place in next year's FFA Cup.

"Sony Computer Entertainment Australia is a blue chip company and this Playstation 4 partnership emphasises the continued growth of football and reaffirms the attraction of the National Premier Leagues and its position in the Australian football landscape," said David Gallop, the FFA chief executive.

Michael Ephraim, managing director of Sony's Australian division, added: "At Playstation, everything we do is for the players. People love to play football for many of the same reasons they play video games - for fun, to be challenged, for the competition and to be social.

"This new partnership unites the passion of our fans with the passion of the National Premier Leagues communities and will help drive the continued growth of football in Australia."
