Tom Soares is determined to stay at Stoke City.

The former Crystal Palace midfielder said: "It was difficult last season, but I thought I did well when I played.

"But the manager changed things and the team was doing well. That was the most important thing, so it was difficult for me to knock on his door and tell him I wanted to play.

"The team was getting results against teams they perhaps shouldn't have, and I wanted to feel part of that.

"At times I didn't, but people who are not in the side will be disappointed. You have to accept that. Now I hope this season will be a fresh start for me."
