A-League leading goalscorer Shane Smeltz again netted on the weekend to take his season tally to nine. The New Zealand star scored a 90th minute equaliser for United in Perth and remains five goals clear of North Queensland Fury marquee man Robbie Fowler who scored one of the goals of the season against Sydney FC on Saturday night.
It was the ex-Liverpool man's fourth for the season and third in the last three games as he begins to show the reasons why has been dubbed 'God' by fans around the globe.
Melbourne Victory midfielder Carlos Hernandez joined teammate Archie Thompson on three goals after a brilliant free-kick against Wellington Phoenix on Sunday as Perth striker Branko Jelic also netted his third with the opener in the Perth v Gold Coast clash that ended 2-2.
