Smalling informs Man Utd he wants Roma stay - and on less money

Chris Smalling wants to stay with AS Roma.

The England defender is on a season-long loan with the Giallorossi from Manchester United, where he has rebuilt his career this term.

Corriere dello Sport says Smalling has now informed both clubs he wishes to stay with Roma next season.

Indeed, the stopper has told Roma he'd be willing to accept a hefty pay-cut to help smooth negotiations.

For their part, United are upping their valuation for Smalling from an original £10-12m to now £25m.
