Sporting Kansas City head coach Peter Vermes was feeling positive despite his team putting in a dour display in the MLS Conference final first leg on the weekend.
SKC held Houston Dynamo to a 0-0 draw at BBVA Compass Stadium in an extremely hard-fought contest and although there wasn't a lot of attacking play from his side, Vermes was fine with the result ahead of the return bout in Kansas City in a fortnight's time.
"I don't think either team had many chances, to be honest with you. There were a lot of balls in the box, but there was nothing real clean and clear," he said.
"It's not like anybody said, 'Holy cow, how did we miss that thing?'
"I can't really admonish anybody for not giving everything they had. I don't necessarily think that they were dangerous and we weren't either. It was a game played between the boxes."
The other Conference final, between Portland Timbers and Real Salt Lake, takes place on Sunday night at Rio Tinto Stadium with the return leg on the same weekend as SKC's November 23 home clash with the Dynamo.
