Sion have confirmed coach Vladimir Petkovic is set for talks with Lazio.

The Bosnian has shot to the top of the list for the vacant Stadio Olimpico post and could be announced within days.

"There is a meeting tomorrow between Petkovic and Lazio. If they were to reach an agreement, then we won't stand in their way," said director of sport Marco Degennaro on Radio Manà Manà.

"He has a contract, but it's true that when a side like Lazio calls, it is difficult to keep hold of anyone.

"I'd love to see Petkovic work for a top club and I wish him all the best. It's only right that we don't get in his way when an opportunity like this arises, as it is the best thing for his career.

"Petkovic only arrived here 15 days ago and there are no problems releasing him. None of this has been translated to paper, as there are only handshakes between the President and the Coach."
