Trevor Sinclair believes that John Stones would be a great signing for Manchester City.

Stones has emerged as one of the finest young defenders in England due to his performances for Everton over the past few seasons and as a result, the 22-year-old has attracted the interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Ex-City winger Sinclair is a huge admirer of Stones' abilities and has stated his belief that the England international would be a great fit at the Etihad Stadium.

Sinclair told the Manchester Evening News: "Stones is potentially one of the best ever. The way he is playing, he is going to inspire a new generation of centre-halves who want to play, who don't want to just hoof it, who want to get the ball down and have the confidence and the ability to get themselves out of tight situations and start attacks.

"It would be great if they [City] could get someone like John Stones. [But] I'm sure Everton don't want to let him go and I'm sure there will be a lot of big teams in for him because he is top drawer."
