Diego Simeone is delighted signing a new deal with Atletico Madrid.

The Atletico coach has penned a contract to 2027.

He later said at his signing ceremony: "I have to say 'thank you', I told you several times. This renewal is very important, we continue in a project that started many years ago. First, say what I feel, thank you for trusting me and all the people who accompanied us in all these years come to mind. They all helped us find that path in which I am very happy. I am happy where I am.

"Sometimes they ask me how this is achieved. I always wanted to come, but the key is to think about the day to day. I am aware that we cannot get away from day to day. From game to game. That added to the support that we have had... it has made this continuity grow and generate for us what is happening.

"I see the team doing well, with enthusiasm, all involved in the same pursuit. I always believed that it is generated when the players interpret that everything is strong. They know that there is a goal and they go after it.

"For my part, I want to win. There is a group of guys who are convinced that we can win. Help us be strong. We have regenerated. We also play in a different way, we have evolved. The team asks us to play in a different way and I want more. I hope to reach the goal with these objectives."
