David Silva says Manchester City are still learning the ropes at Champions League level.

Silva, who was linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer, admits City are rookies when it comes to the Champions League.

He said: "Three years ago we struggled to get into that competition.

"Now we are required to win it - but we must have patience.

"We know that so far, we should have done better in Europe but we can only look forward."
