Siena's relegation battle has suffered a blow with a thigh strain for Massimo Maccarone.

Maccarone is now out for the season after breaking down during their 4-1 victory over Bologna on the weekend.

The former Middlesbrough striker has scored seven Serie A goals in 27 games this term, plus one in the Coppa Italia, making him the squad's top scorer.
