Siena striker Mattia Destro is thrilled to have made Italy's preliminary Euros squad.

Destro was a surprise name in the 32-player list.

"This is a point of departure for me and not an arrival," he said.

"I thank Prandelli for giving me this extraordinary chance, but I know that I have a lot of work to do in order for me to improve as a footballer.

"I'm really happy and emotional. I didn't expect this but I will give it my all as it is everyone's dream to train with La Nazionale."
