Pedro Mendes was pleasantly surprised after winning an international recall for Portugal. The Rangers midfielder was a late addition to Carlos Queiroz's squad after injuries hit their World Cup double-header with Hungary and Malta.
Anything less than six points will eliminate them and almost certainly mean they will have to settle for a play-off place at best.
But Mendes told the Scottish Sun: "It's no use looking back. It is important to live for today and win the games in the immediate future.
"It was a nice surprise to be called up and I want to enjoy it and help the team. I accepted the invite with great satisfaction.
"Everyone agrees that the situation is not ideal, "But they are two important games we must win - and hopefully get into the play-offs."
