Shilton pays tribute to Arsenal keeper Cech after retirement: Terry was right

England legend Peter Shilton has paid tribute to Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech after he announced his retirement.

Cech will hang up the gloves at the end of the season.

Shilton wrote for the Daily Mail: "I always say all keepers make mistakes, but the best ones make the fewest. That certainly applies to Petr.

"Keepers are all dependent to an extent on what is in front of them and Petr played in front of some great defenders.

"But his technical judgment, shot-saving and consistency were all of the highest standard and that marks the great from the very good.

"There is no doubt that his confidence was affected after he fractured his skull in that horrific collision with Stephen Hunt at Reading in 2006, which is understandable.

"Many years ago Brian Clough said I was worth 15 points a season to Nottingham Forest.

"That is also what John Terry repeated about Cech and it sums up my memories of the great Czech keeper."
