Sheffield Wednesday's Kavanagh hopes for Sunderland return

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Graham Kavanagh wants a return to parent club Sunderland.

Kavanagh, who has two more matches of his month-long loan spell from Sunderland to run, said: "I spoke to Roy Keane and he more or less said I had to go away to prove myself.

"There was a doubt in his mind I could get back to the level he wants after a couple of serious knee operations and seven months out.

"I think I am proving myself but obviously that will be Roy's decision. I'm sure Sunderland will have their scouts at games to check on me.

"Of course I would love to get back into the Premier League, but that's something still to be discussed."

He's certainly enjoying his shift at Wednesday after helping inspire them to only their third win of the season against his old club Stoke.

Kavanagh added: "I initially came to Wednesday for a month and what happens next will have to be discussed.

But I'm certainly enjoying myself at such a big club and with such great fans.

"Not many will have given us much chance coming to Stoke with them flying, but it was a fully justified three points."
