Sheffield Wednesday signing Abdi explains quitting Watford

Former Watford midfielder Almen Abdi has explained leaving for Sheffield Wednesday.

Abdi, who scored 25 goals for Watford in 130 appearances, signed a three-year deal with the Championship club yesterday for a reported £4m.

The midfielder told the Sheffield Star: "I had a fantastic four years at Watford but this is a new chapter for me."

He added: "I didn't always play in my right position. I like to play in the middle but I played a lot on the right hand side last year.

"Watford couldn't tell me I would play in my right position this year so I was looking for something else and I think Sheffield Wednesday are a perfect solution."
