Sheffield Wednesday boss eager to tie down loanees Pudil, Bennett, Lopez

Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal has stated that he is keen on tying down his on-loan stars to permanent deals rather than signing new players.

Wednesday have enjoyed a fruitful season so far and are in strong contention to earn promotion to the Premier League as they sit in the playoff positions in the Championship.

In order to boost their promotion chances, it had been claimed that the Owls would be bringing in a host of new faces this January but Carvalhal has stated that instead of recruiting additional players, he is focused on securing the likes of Michael Turner, Joe Bennett, Alex Lopez, Vincent Sasso and Daniel Pudil to permanent contracts at Hillsborough.

Carvalhal said: "I think the more you do in July, the less you have to do in January or you start having problems. I am a coach that lives in an emotional environment and have emotional connections so you can do this if you don't move your team around too much and move too many players.

"This transfer window we're planning firstly [to] get the contracts in order for the players we have on loan and after this if we do something, then it will be a few things but not big changes [to] the team, I'm absolutely sure."
