Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir admits he was blocked from leaving for abroad over the summer.
The Turkey international attracted approaches from Sheffield United and Brighton, but Trabzonspor insisted on a record price to sell.
In the end Cakir remained and says: "I want to go and play in Europe, but Trabzonspor also has financial expectations. If it was met, I left the process to the president. Trabzonspor gave me this chance. I want to go to Europe, but I believe that I will go to the right place at the right time."
On coach Eddie Newton, formerly of Chelsea, he added: "Eddie Newton is a really good person. He has a high level of tactical knowledge. It would not be right for me to say anything about the coaching change. It is a job that our president and our board will know. It is too early, I think. No one should forget what we did last year."
