Michael Owen remains keen on staying with Newcastle United, if Alan Shearer stays in charge.
A source close to Owen told the News of the World: "Michael's priority is still the same. He wants to help Newcastle to stay up.
"Everyone knows there is a mutual admiration between Alan and Michael and they are looking forward to working together for the rest of the season. Beyond that, time will tell. But Michael has a genuine affection for Newcastle and the fans and with Alan in charge I am sure that affection will grow even stronger."
Talks between Owen's camp and Toon owner Mike Ashley broke down earlier in the season after Newcastle wanted the striker to accept a pay-as-you-play deal.
But Owen was insistent he would wait until the summer before making a decision on his Tyneside future.
There has been reported interest from Everton. Manchester City and Spurs, as well as clubs in Italy but Owen has chosen to keep his future on the backburner until he knows Newcastle's fate.
