Shakira's relationship with Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is helping the Colombian popstar make greater inroads with her charity foundation.
During their tour of the USA, Shakira and Barcelona announced they have come together to build sports facilities for marginalized neighborhoods in Miami.
"Through Gerard I learned what this sport is about and how it can help a child, it teaches respect, discipline, tolerance and desire to fight for a dream," said Shakira.
"I also now know that in the Barca dressing room all the players are united by the shirt, despite having different beliefs, because the shirt is above all else.
"This helps me dream that humanity may one day also lead to thinking the same way."
