Shakhtar ace Alex Teixeira wants Liverpool move

Liverpool could yet win the race to sign Alex Teixeira from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Reds have edged ahead of Premier League rivals Chelsea in the race for the Brazilian attacking midfielder who has been in fine form in Ukraine this season.

The 26-year-old, who has netted 22 goals in 16 league matches for Shakhtar this term, has reportedly told his current club that he wants to join Liverpool.

Sky Sports understands Teixeira is the subject of a £25million offer from the Merseyside outfit and is expected to become Jurgen Klopp's second signing of the winter window after Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic.

Reigning champions Chelsea have been hot on the heels of Teixeira for months but it appears the lure of playing alongside good friends Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva at Anfield is too much to turn down for the former Vasco da Gama ace.
