SFA set to appoint ex-Celtic boss Strachan

The Scottish Football Association are set to unveil Gordon Strachan as manager of the Scotland national team according to the Daily Record.

The former Celtic, Southampton and Middlesbrough boss has been linked with the role for a while and it is believed that he could be appointed in the next 48 hours.

The SFA have been searching for a replacement since Craig Levein was sacked in November and it has been widely suggested that Strachan will be in the hotseat for the upcoming friendly with Estonia at Pittodrie Stadium ahead of the remainder of the failed 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Former Liverpool and Leeds United midfielder Gary McAllister is expected to be Strachan's assistant.
