Newcastle United striker Seydou Doumbia is set to feature for the U21s today.
The forward signed for the Magpies on deadline day on an initial six-month loan deal until the end of the season but is yet to make his United debut.
Asked about Doumbia being an unused substitute for the Premier League matches against both West Brom and Everton, McClaren said: “We've got a game on Monday so he'll get some minutes. He's only trained a couple of days.
“We wanted to throw him on (against West Brom) but we kept Mitro on for the set-plays."
