Sevilla are lining up a £7 million deal for Tottenham fullback Pascal Chimbonda.
Chimbonda claimed that after the semi-final he was off to Newcastle. But a close friend insisted that Sevilla are now favourites to land the Frenchman, first as cover and then to replace for Brazil ace Daniel Alves, who is off to Inter Milan in the summer.
One other Premiership club, other than Newcastle, are also on Chimbonda's trail.
The news means that Spurs boss Juande Ramos at least has dialogue with his old club, who are suing him and coach Marcos Alvarez over the way they broke their contracts with the Spanish club.
It also opens up the possibility of Ramos tempting Sevilla to let striker ex-Spurs striker Fredi Kanoute return to White Hart Lane.
