Sevilla medical chiefs say they were always aware of Tiberio Guarente's knee injury.
The former Atalanta midfielder has struggled since arriving in the summer from Atalanta for €5.5 million.
Sevilla medical chief Juan Ribas declared: "I do not know if he'll need surgery, but I've warned the club, although I do not know if he was signed while carrying the injury."
