Cadena Ser says Sevilla goalkeeper Javi Varas, who saved a spotkick from Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi on the weekend, is on the radar of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Wenger has sought more information on Varas, who only signed a new deal with Sevilla earlier this month.

With Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski both planning to leave the Gunners in 2012, Wenger will need to find experienced competition for Wojciech Szczesny next season.
