Sevilla coach Mendilibar: Lens draw taught us football not just physical

Sevilla coach Jose Luis Mendilibar says they must learn from their 1-1 draw with Champions League opponents Lens.

Mendilibar conceded frustration reflecting on Wednesday night's result.

He said, " We have gone from better to less. We have started well, we have scored the goal, they scored against us in that foul and they have calmed down, they have been better positioned, they have defended well and they have attacked well. Although in the first they barely made any chances, In the second they had a clear shot and Marko was very good.

"It was difficult for us, we went in waves, in rushes and we had to defend from behind. We have to be more of a team, be closer together and that way we will do better.

"They may have played better than us but they have barely shot on goal. Per game perhaps they have done better than us, it has cost us a lot. It is a Champions League match, there are the best teams in Europe and if you don't play well but you score a point, Well, not that bad.

"It's intelligence, knowing how to move, I give more importance to being well positioned than to physical strength, I prefer anticipation to duels. People talk about winning by speed, not everything is physical, there is also tactics and we are not so good tactically like last season or we may lack physicality. We have to refine it in the following games, of which there are many."
