Obafemi Martins has been granted permission to go and see a doctor in order to treat a recurring knee injury.
Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid said the Nigerian striker, who missed the CONCACAF Champions League semi-final first leg loss to Santos Laguna during the week, will seek specialist advice on his knee which will also keep him out of the return bout next week.
"He's had this injury before and he was treated by a doctor, so we've let him go back to see that doctor," Schmid said.
"Then he'll be back early next week. We'll be in communication and hopefully whatever the guy did the last time will resolve it and he'll be able to do it again."
Schmid added: "He was going to be out for Tuesday anyway so we figured now was a good window to get that fixed. And then hopefully he'll be ready to go by the time we play New England (on April 13)."
